Vigyan Samagam

Vigyan Samagam is a multi-venue mega-science exhibition that brings several collaborative mega-science projects under one roof. Aiming to bring mega-science one step closer to the society, it showcases India’s contribution to some of the biggest international collaborations on fundamental science and research, and provides a common interactive platform for mega-science activities, industry, academia and institutions. The exhibition also presents fundamental science and research as a strong career options for the youngsters.

A first-of-its-kind exhibition, the exhibition being hosted in a caravan mode at four cities – Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Delhi – from May 2019 to March 2020.


- To highlight the value and impact of fundamental research to a broad cross-section of audience by bringing mega-science closer to society.

- To act as a catalyst for engaging students, academician and industry on a common interactive mega-science platform

- To further strengthen the larger benefits from collaborative mega-science projects undertaken by Units and Institutions of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST)


Vigyan Samagam aims to demystify cutting-edge science and technology to increase awareness and enthusiasm in this regard for a large spectrum of audience, including schools, colleges and University students, allowing them to take a deeper peek into the research that is redefining the boundaries of human knowledge. The initiative also reaches out to industry partners, researchers, scholars, scientific organisations, policy-makers, representatives of print and electronic media along with members of civil society. Such a cross-section of audience is expected to pave the way for a greater interaction between all stakeholders, resulting in cross-fertilisation of ideas.

By bringing Industry-Institute on a common interactive platform, Vigyan Samagam is expected to bring to a sharp focus novel career alternatives and effectively lead the visitors to think beyond the common career choices and establish science as a formidable career option.
